The first to know (because she guessed!) was Katy. I was heading into Ruby Tuesday's to have dinner with my Dad the day we found out and I called for a very brief converstaion to get her husbands cell phone # and after I got that I asked what time is the latest I can call since she has little ones. She said...."no later than 8:00.....you're pregnant aren't you?!?!". I'm too close to several girlfriends and could not (nor did I want to) keep it a secret from any of them even right from the get-go. I realize that telling so early on is not the wisest choice but I'm not a highly private person and if something were to happen I'd want as much support as I can get. Then I asked my Dad at dinner if he was ready to be a Pepere again....he is excited to finally have another grandchild. He has too many step-grandchildren to count on even 2 hands but I'm sure it is different when it's your own child having a child. So, right from the get-go my side of the family knew and my side of friends. I was going to try to hold back on telling too many people at work but I couldn't do it and everyone knew by the following Monday. I'm just too close to everyone that it wouldn't have taken them long to figure it out.....what can I say.....I like my Bud Light! :-> It's taking a little longer to get to Ryan's side of the family because we really want to tell them in person and they aren't as local as my side. Ryan has told a few of his work buddies and a few of the fraternity brothers but besides his Dad and Barbara the only family that knows right now is his cousin Shawn and his wife. They have been sworn to secrecy!! We caught up with his Dad and Barbara in Portland as they were heading out on vacation and they were staying in Portland overnight so it worked out well. We met up at Thatcher's in S. Portland and when they walked in they saw me with an ice water and immediately asked if we were pregnant. We denied it because I didn't want them to spoil the way we were going to tell them. I let a little time pass then handed them a gift bag and on top was a picture frame with just "11/24/07" in it. They kinda figured it out at that point but I said for further explaination to continue looking in the bag. What was in the bottom was Grandpa/Grandma baby bibs. They were ecstatic that we were finally giving them a grandchild. We told his Mom's side of the family during Easter dinner. The plan was to have Ryan make a comment about taking seconds on something at dinner and I was going to say that I'm eating for 2 but the noise level was too loud and no one heard him. So, I had to shift gears as we were really going for shock factor. In addition to myself there are 4 others pregnant in the family now so when everyone was done eating and they were just chit chatting I said "so, that makes 5 babies coming now right?" I could see everyone thinking to themselves and counting......nope.....only 4. Then I said "I'm pretty sure there's 5" and all they had to do at this point is look at our faces and they realized what we were getting at and there were several loud pitch screeches. That was fun! Ryan has has told only a few of his work buddies and a few of the fraternity brothers. Once we get past the first trimester he'll spread the news more throughout his side of the friends. Telling people has been a very fun thing for us as I'm sure it is with most everybody. We've had so much support and excitement! :-> Auntie Corrie and Auntie Erica were the first to give baby Marston a gift. Thanks for the blankie Auntie Corrie and the plush photo cube Auntie Erica :->

The beginning........
It all started when I returned home from a Trade Show in Reno. I was due to begin my cycle on Saturday, March 17th but Saturday came and went and I did not start. Sunday was the flight home and again I expected that at any moment I would start but I did not. I arrived home at around 2:00AM early on Monday morning so needless to say I was not going to work on Monday and Ryan had had a rough week at work so he decided to stay home with me. I awoke around noontime and again, still had not started so I closed the door to the bathroom and took the last test in the only 3 pack of tests I had to purchase, Ryan was working on something in the computer room. I did not want to watch the test working I placed it aside and covered it with the box. I patiently waited the 3 minutes as instructed then I went back to where I had put it and removed the box and low and behold there were double pink lines. I started crying hysterically! I wanted to regain my composure a bit before letting Ryan in on my little secret so I took a shower and unpacked then when I thought the time was right I presented him with a small giftbag. Inside the giftbag was a teeny weeny pair of baby booties. I could see the look of confusion on his face as he pulled the booties out of the bag but all it took was about one second and I was in tears again so it didn't take long for him to figure out what they meant......we're pregnant!!!!
